How long does a garage door replacement take?

Most residential garage door replacements are completed in a few hours when the opening is standard and the new door is on hand. A door with a new opener, custom sizing, or structural adjustments to the opening can take longer. HeroTec gives a realistic timeframe with the flat-rate quote before the work begins.

Can you replace just the door and keep my opener?

Sometimes, if the opener is newer, compliant, and sized to the new door's weight. If the opener is old, non-compliant, or undersized for a heavier insulated door, replacing it with the door is the better path. HeroTec checks the opener against the new door and advises whether it can stay or should be replaced.

What happens to my old garage door?

HeroTec removes and hauls away the old door and hardware as part of the replacement, so the homeowner is not left to dispose of it. The removal is done carefully, since an old door's springs hold tension and must be handled safely, which is one reason a garage door replacement is not a safe do-it-yourself project.
